The high-performance AMG.EA architecture brings the drivetrain, driving dynamics, and intelligent software together into one holistic performance system. This enables precisely controllable driving states – from maximum acceleration to controlled limits – delivering unique, versatile performance that can be called upon precisely when needed, and each experienced in its own right.

AMG RACE ENGINEER

Performance control centre

AMG RACE ENGINEER

The AMG RACE ENGINEER controls the entire intelligence of the software and hardware components for the powertrain and driving-dynamics systems and is an integral part of the AMG.EA sports car architecture. At its core is the AMG RACE ENGINEER Core, a high-performance chip that optimises the use of the drivetrain components. The underlying software is an in-house Mercedes-AMG development and controls the drivetrain, braking, and recuperation systems. The system is complemented by the AMG RACE ENGINEER Control Unit as the central driving-dynamics controller. With these three rotary controllers in the centre console, ambitious drivers can tailor their vehicle’s dynamics even more individually to their driving style.

  • The “Response Control” rotary controller coordinates the responsiveness of the electric motors to accelerator-pedal commands, ranging from comfortable and harmonious to razor-sharp and aggressive.
  • “Agility Control” adjusts agility around the vertical axis and influences cornering behaviour from a slight understeer through neutral handling through to a controlled oversteer.
  • “Traction Control” – also referred to as slip behaviour – influences the intervention of traction control across nine stages.

The three controllers enable a particularly sensitive and individually adjustable tuning of driving dynamics with high agility and exceptional driving pleasure.

AMG TRACK PACE

Digital performance analysis

AMG TRACK PACE

AMG TRACK PACE is a highly advanced software within the MBUX infotainment system and turns every racetrack visit into a professional training session. During driving, more than 80 vehicle-specific data points are recorded ten times per second. Depending on the situation, telemetry data, acceleration data or racing data are shown in the driver display. Lap and sector times are available in the multimedia display, head-up display, and instrument cluster. Additional training and analysis tools are also available. Many racetracks are already stored, while personal tracks can be recorded and analysed. Racing navigation shows cornering angles and braking points, while augmented reality visualises the racing line. In this way, lap times can be continuously improved and driving performance developed in a targeted manner.

Intelligent power control

PREDICTIVE PERFORMANCE MANAGER

The Predictive Performance Manager (PPM) optimises energy flow depending on the situation and makes a key contribution to achieving optimal lap times on the racetrack. Depending on the selected mode, “Endurance” or “Hotlap”, the system adapts power output specifically to the respective section of the track. In situations where full power is not required, energy is saved in order to call upon it exactly where it is needed. Control is communicated acoustically and visually via signals in the instrument cluster and supports the driver in using the optimal balance of power and efficiency. This enables optimal use of the available energy and situation-specific power delivery. This system will surely help set many new personal lap records in the future.

Maximum acceleration

AMG LAUNCH CONTROL

AMG Launch Control enables optimal vehicle acceleration from a standstill and may be activated on closed circuits. When the activation conditions of AMG BOOST MODE are met, the maximum available power is temporarily deployed during launch and the vehicle characteristics are adapted accordingly – creating immediate power delivery that specifically supports dynamic driving situations. The process is accompanied by a special ambient-light animation, increased volume of the drive sound, and noticeable vehicle vibration. After the brake is released, the vehicle accelerates at maximum power while the status is shown in the driver display – ideal for adrenaline-charged moments beyond everyday driving pleasure.

V8 driving excitement programmed

AMGFORCE SPORT+

Anyone who loves V8 engines will love this multi-sensory drive programme: AMGFORCE S+ delivers an unparalleled, immersive V8 experience with a highly authentic AMG sound signature, authentic traction interruptions during simulated gear changes, and an adapted driver display in the central-tube design. The patent-pending sound portfolio combines legendary AMG V8 acoustics with innovative electric technology. The development follows a radical concept: instead of imitating sound effects, the sound of a genuine AMG V8 engine was meticulously recorded. Sixteen different microphone positions, inside and outside, captured more than 100 highly precise measurements. The reference vehicle, a Mercedes-AMG GT R, was measured both statically and dynamically on a chassis dynamometer – with the aim of digitising every nuance of the authentic AMG sound character. The result is unmistakable and typical AMG.

Targeted oversteer

AMG DRIFT MODE

AMG DRIFT MODE enables exceptionally qualified and experienced drivers to guide the vehicle deliberately and precisely in an unstable and oversteering driving state – only on closed circuits and off public roads, of course. When activated, ESP® is automatically switched off. At the same time, and depending on vehicle model, the active rear spoiler and active underbody, for example, move into an extended position. In addition, slip behaviour can be adjusted in stages via AMG Traction Control. This enables controlled drifting – unlocking unmistakable driving pleasure and smoking tyres.
