CHARGING

Intelligent thermal management
DIRECT COOLING FOR MAXIMUM CHARGING AND DRIVING PERFORMANCE
The high-voltage battery of the high-performance AMG.EA architecture is the result of a groundbreaking new development specifically designed for maximum performance. Direct cooling of the battery cells ensures uniform cooling of all cells and effective heat dissipation via a special line system. This intelligent thermal management regulates the temperature of each cell module precisely and adapts to different driving situations. During charging, it also creates the optimal conditions for short charging times and long service life. This, in turn, is crucial for consistent power delivery and battery longevity, even under extreme conditions. Even during highly dynamic driving with frequent acceleration and recuperation, the high-performance capability is maintained, and continuous power density remains stable. The result: impressive performance not only in the sprint, but also over marathon distances.

Maximum charging performance
HIGHSPEED CHARGING WITH UP TO 600 kW
The charging performance of the high-performance AMG.EA architecture sets new standards and combines high speed on the road with equally rapid charging times. Thanks to a peak charging capacity of more than 600 kW, for example in the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4-Door Coupé, more than 460 kilometres of range (WLTP combined)* can be recharged in just 10 minutes. For the typical charging cycle from 10 to 80% State of Charge (SoC), only 11 minutes** are required. This is made possible by charging currents of more than 800 amperes at the corresponding fast-charging infrastructure. Charging therefore becomes almost as fast as refuelling and integrates seamlessly into a dynamic driving style.
*The figures are preliminary. There are currently no confirmed values from an officially recognised testing organisation, nor EC type approval, nor a certificate of conformity with official values. Deviations between the stated figures and the official values are possible.
**The stated recharged range (WLTP) after 11 minutes was determined using the maximum DC charging power in accordance with ISO/SAE 12906 under the conditions described therein.

Individual charging programmes
AMG CHARGING MODES FOR DEMAND-BASED CHARGING
The versatile AMG charging programmes enable targeted control of the charging process for individual driving needs. “Fast” mode leads to the fastest possible charging process to the target State of Charge and is set as the default mode. When switching to “Balanced” mode, charging power is optimised for typical stops such as a 30-minute charging phase up to 80% – ideal for lunch breaks or short errands on the way. To reduce charging power as well as charging losses and cooling noise at 75 kW and a target State of Charge of 80%, “Efficient & Silent” mode is available. An additional charging programme enables optimised battery conditioning in order to reach the target temperature for maximum driving performance. The charging programmes are integrated into the range assistant and support route planning, making it possible not only to enjoy the drive, but to also reach your desired destination fully relaxed.

Efficient energy recovery
RECUPERATIVE BRAKING SYSTEM
The recuperative braking system converts the vehicle’s kinetic energy into electrical energy during coasting and braking. Depending on the recuperation level, the electric motors operate as generators and recharge the high-voltage battery while driving. Recuperation starts automatically as soon as the accelerator pedal is released and can be adjusted in stages using the steering-wheel shift paddles. The ECO Assistant also helps adapt the driving style to the route and recover as much energy as possible. This means energy is used efficiently and range is actively supported while driving. As a result, the battery retains high power reserves even when the driving style becomes more dynamic with frequent acceleration. Ideal for experiencing the unmistakable AMG feeling.

Extensive range
PERFORMANCE WITH OUTSTANDING EVERYDAY USABILITY
Despite all performance optimisations in the high-performance AMG.EA architecture, the system remains extremely efficient and enables extensive range in everyday use. The intelligent vehicle software optimally integrates charging stops into route planning and prepares the battery specifically for the fastest possible charging process. Factors such as charging infrastructure, battery temperature, and state of charge are taken into consideration. In this way, the system combines performance and efficiency into a range that performs convincingly on every route. For example, the maximum range of the new Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4-Door Coupé is an impressive 664–764 kilometres (WLTP)* in urban use and still a remarkable 596–696 kilometres (WLTP)¹ combined. Put another way: with the innovative battery and charging technology of the high-performance AMG.EA architecture, everyday usability has now arrived in our all-electric high-performance vehicles.
