2026 F1 Season
A New Era Begins
The Mercedes-AMG F1 W17 E PERFORMANCE is the first machine of its kind. Designed specifically for the biggest rule change in the history of the premier class, the team's F1 car for the 2026 season is a true game-changer.
At the heart of the W17 is Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrain’s (HPP) all‑new hybrid Power Unit, created for the 2026 rules. Powered by a near 50:50 split between a combustion engine and electric power, it relies on advanced, sustainable fuel from PETRONAS.
Meanwhile, the new chassis regulations stipulate a 200 mm shorter wheelbase, a 100 mm narrower width and a minimum weight that is around 30 kg lighter. Active aerodynamics, featuring movable front and rear wings, will balance drag and downforce on straights and in corners. Boost and overtake modes will be used for the first time in 2026, replacing the Drag Reduction System (DRS).
The W17 sports a striking new livery. A dynamic PETRONAS green flow line anchors the design, sweeping low across the car to emphasise speed and precision. The top of the sidepods feature the AMG-specific inspired rhombus signature, complementing the iconic Mercedes three-pointed star pattern on the engine cover.
Two familiar faces will be behind the wheel of the W17: the team's two former junior drivers, George Russell and Kimi Antonelli, will be entering their second season together with the team in 2026.
