Revealing facial expressions.
The design of the new Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S inspires with exclusivity, powerful sportiness and dominance. It underscores the progressiveness of the AMG brand and transports the impressive motor sport history. From now on, the new GLE 63 S also sports the distinctive "A-wing" in the front bumper, which is characteristic for the AMG design philosophy. The design of the radiator grill with the silver chrome double louvre, the integrated AMG lettering and the central Mercedes-Benz star are distinguishing features of current AMG Performance automobiles.
The performance SUV also impresses with dominance when viewed from the side. Wheel arch flares in vehicle color provide space for the large wheels. As standard, tires of size 295/35 R 21 are mounted on 10 J x 21 AMG cross-spoke light-alloy wheels in titanium gray with high-sheen finish.
The black diffuser insert in the rear bumper with silver chrome trim strip in the shape of the front “A-wing” represents typical motor racing design. The special exhaust system with two chrome-plated dual tailpipe embellishers and "AMG" lettering underscores the sportiness and exclusivity.

AMG Body Styling.
The powerful AMG body styling ensures a dynamic, dominant appearance from any angle. It comprises the specific front apron with front splitter in the vehicle color, A-wing painted in high-gloss black with trim strip in silver chrome and also black flics. In the case of the AMG rear apron, diffuser fins and a trim strip in silver chrome create distinct, sporty highlights. The side sill panels and wheel arch claddings in the vehicle color and the red-painted brake calipers round off the exterior.

AMG Light-Alloy Wheels.
As standard, 53.3 cm (21-inch) AMG cross-spoke light-alloy wheels, in titanium gray and with a high-sheen finish with tires of size 295/35 R 21 provide the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S with an impressive appearance.
Available as an optional extra are 50.8 cm (20-inch) AMG multi-spoke light-alloy wheels, painted in titanium gray and in a high-sheen finish, with tires of size 265/45 R 20 or 53.3 cm (21-inch) AMG cross-spoke light-alloy wheels, painted in matte black and with a high-sheen finish on 295/35 R 21 tires.
AMG High-Performance Braking.
The AMG high-performance braking system delivers excellent stopping power plus precision brake control with its internally ventilated and perforated brake discs all-round. At the front axle it features 390 (diameter) x 36 mm brake discs, internally ventilated and perforated with six-piston fixed caliper, at the rear 345 (diameter) x 26 mm brake discs, internally ventilated with single-piston combined floating brake calipers are used. Red-painted brake calipers optically differentiate the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S from the GLE 63 and visually underscore the high performance of the brake system.
The emotional AMG-typical V8 sound of the AMG Sports exhaust system is particularly powerful when accelerating and during double declutching. At constant speed the noise level is more reserved. Two chrome-plated twin tailpipe trim elements create a visually striking highlight.
An even more emotional V8 sound experience comes courtesy of the optional AMG Performance exhaust system. Powerful, audible acceleration and a full double-declutching function deliver an impressive acoustic effect.
LED Intelligent Light System.
For the best possible visibility on country roads and freeways, when cornering and on bends, the low beam mode of the LED Intelligent Light System automatically adapts to the weather, lighting and driving conditions. The LED Intelligent Light System thus makes a key contribution to safe driving. LED technology impresses with its very low energy consumption, long operating life and pleasant white light that comes close to the spectrum of natural daylight.
The five functions of the LED Intelligent Light System:
- Country mode illuminates the vehicle-side road verge more brightly and extensively than conventional low beam.
- Freeway mode is switched on from a speed of 90 km/h. Initially, the light output is increased for better illumination of the road and side verges. From 110 km/h, the range of the light beam is increased.
- Cornering lights improve road illumination by shedding more light on the cornering side.
- The active light function pivots the headlamps into bends, enabling the driver to see much further.
- The enhanced fog lamp function illuminates the outer half of the carriageway more effectively while reducing the glare due to light reflected by the fog.
Also in the interior, the new GLE 63 S demonstrates what makes a true AMG Performance automobile. Exquisite materials, first-class workmanship and maximum precision create a unique driving experience. Design and equipment underscore the exclusive high-end positioning.
Aluminum trim with longitudinal grain in the black ARTICO man-made leather instrument panel set shiny attractive highlights. Animated graphics on the partially integrated central display visualize the individual DYNAMIC SELECT transmission modes. The center console houses the COMAND controller, to the right of which is the DYNAMIC SELECT rotary control for the various transmission modes. Located above is the "M" button for the manual transmission mode.
Perforated nappa leather sports seats with special upholstery layout and topstitching as well as AMG badges make for an exclusive look and feel. Thanks to their specific upholstery with greater contouring and higher side bolsters at the front, the sports seats offer excellent lateral support. This is further complemented by the three-spoke Performance steering wheel: the steering wheel rim, with flattened bottom section, in black nappa leather with the grip area in DINAMICA microfiber, is beneficial to a sporty driving style. Silver aluminum shift paddles with "UP" and "DOWN" lettering and precise pressure point act as an invitation to manual gear changing.

The AMG sports seats offer excellent lateral support thanks to AMG-specific upholstery with more pronounced contours and higher side bolsters at the front. Finest nappa leather, the AMG-specific seat upholstery layout with stitching and the "AMG" badge in the front seat backrests provide for an exclusive look and feel. The sporty character is further accentuated by the nappa leathers’ perforation. On cold days, seat heating for the driver and front passenger very rapidly ensures cozy warmth as required. Three different heating levels can be selected for each seat at the touch of a button. AMG emblems in the head restraints lend the interior an especially luxurious note.
AMG Instrument Cluster.
The AMG instrument cluster offers an exciting AMG design and valuable information for sporty drivers. The AMG main menu is displayed in high resolution and in color on the central 11.4 cm (4.4-inch) multifunction display. The driver is informed about current temperatures and vehicle settings and has the option of recording and storing individual lap times. Exclusivity and sportiness are visually underscored by the speedometer with red-highlighted 320 km/h scale and gray trim strip, the AMG logo in the rev counter, AMG-specific lettering as well as red pointers. The precision of the instruments is reflected in the chamfered ring with fine scaling around the speedometer and rev counter.
AMG Performance Steering Wheel.
For outstanding vehicle control the AMG Performance steering wheel in the new Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S is finished in nappa leather with a flattened bottom section. Silver-colored aluminum shift paddles emphasize the sporty appeal. For even more grip when carrying out sporty driving maneuvers, the AMG Performance steering wheel features a grip area upholstered in DINAMICA microfiber.
AMG Door Sill Panels.
The door sill panels in brushed stainless steel indicate an exclusive sporty character as soon as the doors are opened. In addition they protect the entrance area from damage.
Superior everyday practicality and perfect traction, sports car agility and spontaneous throttle response – the new Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S guarantees its driver an exclusive driving experience. This is due in large part to DYNAMIC SELECT. Whether it be throttle response, gear-shift strategy, ESP® thresholds, steering power assist or exclusive AMG continuous damper adjustment, the system networks all the control systems to generate a wide variety of distinct driving experiences.
For the AMG Performance 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive, Mercedes-AMG uses a specially designed transfer case. This exclusive solution splits the torque in a ratio of 40:60 between the front and rear axles to provide higher agility about the vertical axis of the vehicle. The Sports Direct-Steer system too has been fundamentally revised and adapted to the driving dynamics of the performance SUV. The moderate variable steering ratio makes for significantly improved agility, while high-speed driving safety is maintained.

AMG 5.5-Liter-V8-Biturbo Engine.
The engine in the new GLE 63 S, the AMG 5.5-Liter V8 Biturbo, is now even more powerful. The increase by 44 kW (60 hp) to 430 kW (585 hp) delivers significantly improved performance, with the GLE 63 S accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds (ML 63 AMG: 4.8 seconds). Despite the increased power output and improved acceleration, fuel consumption remains at the level of the previous model. The V8 from Affalterbach thus demonstrates its high efficiency. The increased output and torque of the S-Model are the result of a higher maximum boost pressure. The GLE 63 S features an additional charge-air cooler in the left-hand wheel housing. Both models benefit from the favorable aerodynamic positioning of the engine oil cooler in the front section.
AIRMATIC Package Inclusive ADS PLUS.
The combination of air suspension and the Adaptive Damping System ADS PLUS provides good ride comfort whilst also ensuring excellent driving dynamics both on and off-road. The damping at each wheel is adapted to the current driving situation, and can be set for more comfortable or sporty characteristics as required.
The AIRMATIC package at a glance:

ACTIVE CURVE SYSTEM.
Gliding through corners as if on rails – the active suspension stabilizers of the ACTIVE CURVE SYSTEM help reduce the rolling motion of the vehicle and so add to driving comfort when on the road. At the same time the system improves both agility and the fun of driving at mid-range speeds on country roads, as well as driving stability and straight-line running at high speeds on the freeway. In off-road situations, the greater degree of articulation improves traction.
The ACTIVE CURVE SYSTEM comprises the following elements:
