Our visions of yesterday are the legends of today.

Big Bang

1971: AMG 300 SEL 6.8

AMG achieves fame overnight. The first racing car to bear the AMG logo confidently comes out on top in its class at the 24-hour race in Spa-Francorchamps and also reaches second place in the overall standings. It is the legendary, red-painted AMG 300 SEL 6.8 that symbolizes the roots of AMG to this day.

Absolute Hammer

1986: AMG 300 E 5.0–6.0

Escalation: “The Hammer” answers questions that nobody dared to ask before – with up to 385 hp.

Subsequently, the new four-valve cylinder head is used not only in the AMG version of the S-Class, but primarily also in the sedan and, from 1987 onwards, in the mid-range coupé (W 124). The car puts out an unbelievable 265 kW (360 hp) of power, delivers a radical 510 newton meters of torque, and can reach speeds of up to 303 km/h.

Record-breaking car

1993: C 36 AMG

Epochal: The C 36 AMG is the brainchild of the newly concluded partnership between AMG and Mercedes-Benz.

The C 36 AMG begins its triumphant march. By 1997, with 5,000 units sold, it had developed into one of AMG’s first hits in terms of sales.

In 1993, we ushered in a new era with the C 36 AMG. It was the first AMG vehicle in the Mercedes-Benz world.

Avantgarde

1995: E 50 AMG

Pure avant-garde: In June 1995, Mercedes-Benz presents a new generation of E-Class models: the 210 series with the four-eyed face. Six months later, a sporty luxury-class sedan is added to the model range in the form of the E 50 AMG. The E 420 forms the technical basis of the “Avantgarde” equipment line, the technically progressive model variant of the E-Class.

Wings of the Brand

2009: SLS AMG

Magnum opus: The SLS is AMG’s masterpiece – the first independently developed supercar. With gullwing doors.

The first model completely developed by Mercedes-AMG causes a sensation. With the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, Mercedes-AMG creates a modern sports car icon in Affalterbach. The sound and the uncompromising driving dynamics, as well as the legendary gullwing doors, thrill admirers around the world. Mercedes-AMG has reached a new pinnacle in its development: AMG is now the performance brand of Mercedes-Benz.

The safety cars in particular demonstrate just how deeply AMG’s racing roots run: Without major adaptations, the Mercedes-AMG SLS with series production technology from Bernd Mayländer is able to move out in front of Formula 1 cars with impressive speed, thus also commanding the respect of their drivers.

Electric Super Car

2012: Mercedes-Benz SLS E DRIVE

The world premiere of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Coupé Electric Drive at the 2012 Paris Motor Show proves: an electric drive in a super sports car is not a contradiction. The most powerful AMG high-performance vehicle to date has four electric motors with a total output of 552 kW and a maximum torque of 1000 Newton metres. The gullwing thus became the fastest electrically powered production vehicle in the world.

The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Coupé Electric Drive lapped the Nordschleife of the Nürburgring on 07.06.2013 in a record time of 7:56.234 minutes. This makes the AMG electric super sports car the first series-production electric vehicle to complete the legendary racetrack in under eight minutes.

Concentrated Passion

2014: SLS AMG GT3

The SLS AMG GT3 is the result of more than 40 years of motorsport expertise and concentrated passion. No wonder that the uncompromising GT3 variant only serves one purpose: To race.
