Exterior Design.

The AMG exterior design for the Mercedes-AMG S 65 embodies a maximum of exclusivity and dynamism. Key features of the V12 model are the front end with its radiator grille and vertical ribs in high-class chrome, as well as exclusive air inlet grilles in high-gloss chrome. Below them, the AMG front apron with black jet wing indicates the engine's large cooling air requirement. In addition, the MULTIBEAM LED headlamps including ULTRA RANGE Highbeam underscore the technological leadership ambition with their modern design. When viewed from the side, the AMG exterior impresses with special door sill panels with inserts in high-gloss chrome. On the AMG wings, the "V12 BITURBO" lettering draws attention to the top-of-the-line engine. When viewed from the rear, the Mercedes-AMG S 65 is also clearly distinguishable thanks to the AMG sports exhaust system with two V12-specific chrome-plated twin tailpipes. The AMG rear apron with striking black diffuser insert and trim strip in high-gloss chrome gives the rear end an even sportier look.

Wheels.

The Mercedes-AMG S 65 4MATIC+ comes standard-equipped with 50.8 cm (20-inch) multi-spoke forged wheels made of high-gloss polished ceramic, including fully integrated wheel bolt covers with 255/40 R 20 on 8.5 J x 20 ET39 (front) and 285/35 R 20 on 9.5 J x 20 ET39 (rear). Newly available are 50.8 cm (20-inch) cross-spoke forged wheels, which are available both in titanium gray with a high-sheen rim flange with a polished finish, and in matte black with high-sheen rim flange, both featuring fully integrated wheel bolt covers. 

In addition, 50.8 cm (20-inch) 5-spoke light-alloy wheels in titanium gray with high-sheen finish, as well as 5-twin-spoke forged wheels in titanium gray and polished are optionally available, including black wheel bolt cover in the same size. 50.8 cm (20-inch) 10-spoke forged wheels are also available in titanium gray with a polished finish or in matte black with high-sheen rim flange, both including fully integrated wheel bolt covers.

AMG High-Performance Composite Braking System.

Large, internally ventilated and perforated brake discs provide excellent deceleration. The composite design improves resistance to fading even under extreme conditions and reduces unsprung masses on the wheels. Upon request, the brake calipers can be painted in red.

The AMG high-performance ceramic composite braking system ensures extremely short stopping distances, a precise pressure points, and an outstanding fade resistance even undern extreme operating conditions. The system offers racetrack braking performance accompanied by weight savings of around 40% over conventional composite brake discs.

With high-gloss black lacquered design elements, the AMG Night package emphasizes the expressiveness and sportiness of the vehicle. Its elements are:
Trim strip on the front spoiler jet wing in high-gloss black, air grille in high-gloss black, inserts in AMG side skirts in high-gloss black, exterior mirror housings in high-gloss black, trim strip of the rear spoiler in high-gloss black, black chrome double-tailpipe trim elements.

Interior Design.

Exceptional high-class appeal with dynamic details elevates the AMG interior of the Mercedes-AMG S 65 to the very highest level. The AMG sports seats are attractively upholstered in AMG exclusive nappa leather. This high-grade and exclusive material is also used on the upper section of the instrument panel and in the doors, for example. A unique feature of the Mercedes-AMG S 65 is that the roof liner and sun visors are also covered in nappa leather. The command center: From the AMG-specific lower control panel, the driver uses a rocker switch to control the AMG DYNAMIC SELECT drive programs (Comfort, Sport, Sport+, CURVE and Individual). This is also where, with the press of a button, the driver can select the manual transmission mode "M" (long-term M), 3-stage ESP® (ESP® ON, SPORT HANDLING MODE and ESP® OFF) as well as the set-up of AMG sports suspension, which is based on MAGIC BODY CONTROL, with curve inclination function (Sport, Comfort, CURVE).

Integral Touch Control buttons make for excellent operating ergonomics, and inputs are accompanied by acoustic feedback. Innovative: integrated cruise control in the left-hand grip area.

Instrument Display.

Specific displays in the AMG widescreen cockpit. The capabilities are highlighted by additional information regarding engine/transmission oil temperature, manifold pressure or instruments such as the G-Meter and RACETIMER. The speedometer scale, which is extended to 36 km/h, also unmistakably points to the potential of the V12 biturbo engine.

The AMG widescreen cockpit merges the AMG-specific instrument cluster (31.2 cm diagonal/12.3-inch) with the AMG-specific media display (31.2 cm diagonal / 12.3-inch) into a single unit offering high-resolution HD visualizations. It provides three display styles for the AMG instrument cluster; "Classic," "Sporty" and "Progressive."

Additional AMG-specific information in the instrument cluster are: warm-up, set-up, G-meter, RACETIMER, engine data.

Additional AMG-specific functions in the media display include:
When the drive program is changed using the AMG DYNAMIC SELECT rocker switch in the lower control panel, a pop-up appears in the head unit with the respectively selected parameters of the drive program. The "Individual" drive program can be configured in the head unit.

Rear Seats.

The First Class Rear, comprising two single seats with continuous business console including temperature-controlled cup holder, already impresses with a generous amount of space. With up to 12 motors per seat, the seats adjust in a tailor-made manner to suit any body size. Access to the infotainment or telephony features is just as convenient. An exceptional highlight is the Executive seat on the front passenger side with thigh support and backrest adjustment of up to 43.5 degrees for an optimum reclining position. The state-of-the-art Rear Seat Entertainment System (optionally available) includes two displays, a remote control, Blu-ray drive, USB and AUX ports in each case as well as two optional sets of wireless headphones.

The reason: an AMG 6.0-liter V12 biturbo motor, which provides for the most intense driving experience. Even the impressive key figures speak volumes. The power is 463 kW (630 hp), the maximum torque is 1000 Nm. In just 4.3 seconds, the Mercedes-AMG S 65 accelerates from zero to 100 km/h and reaches an electronically controlled top speed of 250 km/h (300 km/h with optional AMG Driver's Package).

The AMG 6.0-liter V12 biturbo engine delivers 463 kW (630 hp) with a maximum torque of 1000 Nm: figures that enable the S 65 AMG to outperform all other vehicles in its segment. This superiority is highlighted by the car's performance: the S 65 AMG accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds, with a top speed of 250 km/h/300 km/h* (electronically limited). The strengths of the 12-cylinder biturbo engine from Mercedes-AMG include its effortless acceleration in all speed ranges, as well as its refined operation with the distinctive V12 sound typical of AMG. In short: the S 65 AMG impresses with its superior and stylish performance.

AMG SPEEDSHIFT Plus 7G-TRONIC.

With 7 gears, 3 drive programs and the automatic double-declutching function, this transmission, which is based on 7G-TRONIC PLUS, enables both an extremely sporty and fuel-efficient driving style. Depending on the preferred driving style, the driver has a choice between an efficient and comfortable style in drive program C (Comfort), a brisk and sporty style in S (Sport) and S+ (Sport Plus) or manual style in "M." A modified accelerator pedal curve and more direct throttle response result in even more agility and driving pleasure in the "S", "S+" and "M" modes. The automatic double-declutching function provides for a more emotively appealing experience and minimizes load cycles, which has a particularly positive effect when braking into bends, and which improves handling safety on wet and slippery surfaces.

The AMG speed-sensitive sports steering supports a sporty driving style with a variable steering ratio and direct cornering properties. Depending on the selected suspension setup, the steering characteristics are adapted for sporty or comfortable steering feedback.

AMG Sports Suspension Based On MAGIC BODY Control.

The AMG sports suspension, which is based on MAGIC BODY CONTROL, uniquely combines outstanding driving dynamics and precision with a high level of long-distance comfort. The curve inclination function enables the body of the vehicle to lean inwards by up to 2.65 degrees on bends. This reduces the lateral forces experienced and enhances driving pleasure, particularly on winding routes. The AMG-specific parameterization of MAGIC BODY CONTROL guarantees optimum handling characteristics right up to the physical limit. This is also assisted by the newly designed axle bearings at the front wheel control and the rear subframe. The suspension uses innovative ROAD SURFACE SCAN. The nature of the road surface ahead is precisely scanned with the help of a stereo camera located behind the windshield. In fractions of a second, the system uses the images and the information regarding the vehicle status to compute the right strategy so that the damping at each wheel is optimally adjusted in advance to suit an uneven surface ahead. In addition, MAGIC BODY CONTROL effectively compensates body roll and pitching when moving off, cornering or braking. In this way, the lateral forces experienced are significantly reduced and sportiness is noticeably enhanced.

AMG Sports Suspension Based On MAGIC BODY Control.

AMG DYNAMIC SELECT.

With the selected drive program, parameters such as the characteristics of the engine, transmission, suspension, ESP®, steering and sound of the exhaust system change to provide an even sportier vehicle setup: more agile accelerator pedal characteristics with a more direct setup, shorter shift times and significantly more emotive gear changes. The dynamic characteristics of the vehicle are supported by additional functions such as a double-declutching function, cylinder shut-off, active downshifting and start-up in "Sport" and "Sport+" mode.

The last-selected drive program remains active for 4 hours after switching off the vehicle, after which the default setting of the balanced and fuel-efficient "Comfort" mode is enabled. The "Individual" drive program allows drivers to adjust the various parameters — from the steering and powertrain to the suspension — to suit their own requirements. In addition, drivers can use the "M" button to switch straight to manual mode, enabling gear changing using the steering wheel gearshift paddles only.

More agility and dynamism are provided by the "Sport" drive program, whose features include sporty, firm suspension tuning with modified shift points. The sporty attributes can be even further enhanced in the "Sport+" drive program. Here, the suspension and powertrain are even more dynamically tuned. The ECO Start/Stop function and coasting mode are deactivated in both programs.

Reduced roll angle when cornering is offered by the "Curve" drive program. The system makes for enhanced comfort thanks to reduced centrifugal forces while at the same time enhancing the subjectively perceived sportiness.
