To further underline the sporty character of the Mercedes-AMG GLE 43 Coupé, both dials feature bar graph displays for fuel level and coolant temperature respectively are positioned at the bottom of these large dials. The color multifunction display shows information such as time, ambient temperature, trip information and also current gear and the shift program of the 9G-TRONIC. The different items of information available on the multifunction display can be called up and edited using the buttons on the multifunction steering wheel.
AMG Door Sill Panels.
A feature to catch the eye when entering the vehicle: the high-quality door sill panels with "AMG" lettering protect the entrance area, individualize the looks of the vehicle and underscore the heritage of the car.
The GLE Coupé feels like a true sports coupé right from the word "go." Despite the similarity to an SUV with its raised seating position and an all-round view that is expansive for a coupé, the occupants are led to believe that they are in sports rather than off-road mode. The sound is reminiscent of powerful sports cars and, combined with the spontaneous and direct response to all commands, is guaranteed to get your pulse racing. On the other hand, it can also create a superior feeling of calm, coupled with unshakably serene driving dynamics. These two different worlds can normally only be experienced in two separate vehicles — an agile, thoroughbred sports coupé and an easy-going, comfortable SUV. But the new GLE Coupé is different: DYNAMIC SELECT enables a wide spread in the driving dynamics and combines these diametrical worlds of experience in a single vehicle — an automobile premiere.

The new 3.0-Liter V6 Biturbo engine is part of the BlueDIRECT engine family from Mercedes-Benz. Technical advances including a modified boost pressure allowed the AMG engineers to increase the engine's power output and torque. With 270 kW (367 hp) and 520 newton meters the V6 engine sets new standards in its segment — which is evident in the convincing performance: a sprint time from zero to 100 km/h of 5.7 seconds underscores the sporty temperament of the Mercedes-AMG GLE 43 Coupé. With a combined fuel consumption of 9.4-8.9 liters per 100 kilometers and CO2 emissions of 219-209 grams per kilometer, the new top-of-the-line V6 model defines an absolute top position in the competitive environment.
9G-TRONIC With Shortened Shift Times.
Featuring nine forward gears, this automatic transmission takes dynamics, efficiency and comfort to a completely new level. Fast gear changes, thanks to the AMG-specific tuning, result in even better response and agility. At the same time, the 9G-TRONIC impresses with smooth, barely perceptible gear shifting like that of a continuously variable transmission. As the 9G-TRONIC is able to skip individual gears, multiple downshifts are possible for fast and powerful sprints. With the DYNAMIC SELECT transmission modes "Economy," "Comfort," "Sport," "Sport+" or "Individual," the shift characteristics can be preset from highly economical to dynamic. In "Individual" mode, gears can be selected manually via the steering wheel gearshift paddles ("M" mode). The driver's shift commands are carried out with extremely short shift times. Drivers with a sporty driving style change gears similarly dynamically as in motorsport.
The combination of air suspension and the Adaptive Damping System ADS PLUS provides good ride comfort whilst also ensuring excellent driving dynamics both on and off-road. The damping at each wheel is adapted to the current driving situation and road surface condition. The fully variable adjustable damping effectively reduces rolling and pitching when cornering or braking. The roll angle when cornering can be compensated for even better effect in conjunction with the ACTIVE CURVE SYSTEM. With the "Comfort" and "Sport" settings there is a choice between a more comfortable and a sportier setup with the AIRMATIC package. The pneumatic all-round self-leveling system ensures a constant vehicle level irrespective of the load. In "Sport" transmission mode the vehicle is lowered by -15 mm and in "Sport+" mode by -55 mm. Automatic lowering to the sport level (-15 mm) occurs in the "Comfort" transmission mode from a speed of 80 km/h. Among other things, this results in reduced wind resistance and further enhanced stability.
The DYNAMIC SELECT variable dynamic control system assigns fundamentally different characteristics to the five transmission modes of "Individual," "Comfort," "Slippery," "Sport," and "Sport+," which the driver is able to select using a rotary control on the center console. The system networks all the control systems, generating different driving experience parameters. The names speak for themselves: "Sport" and "Sport+" turn the Mercedes-AMG GLE 43 Coupé into a sporty, dynamic vehicle with pronounced longitudinal and lateral dynamics. "Comfort" is the opposite end of the spectrum. Here the emphasis is on the feel-good parameters so typical of classic Mercedes-Benz sedans, for relaxed, effortless cruising with the greatest possible energy efficiency. "Slippery" optimizes the handling on surfaces with low friction coefficients such as snow or ice. In addition, "Individual" mode enables the driver to program and store personal preferences in the individual control strategies, regardless of the engine variant.
In the Mercedes-AMG GLE 43 Coupé, DYNAMIC SELECT not only modulates the "hard skills" such as the chassis and suspension, steering or powertrain. It is also possible to experience the selected mode more intensively on an emotional level because various "soft skills" such as the engine sound, instruments or dynamic control of the driving lights also vary. To this end, the nature of the various displays on the COMAND screen and in the cockpit changes according to the selected transmission mode. At the same time, the active light function of the all-LED headlamps responds more spontaneously, the light functions of the High Beam Assistant switch faster and the engine produces the whole range of sounds from sporty and dominant to poised and reticent.
AMG-Specific 4MATIC All-Wheel Drive.
Excellent driving characteristics on any surface — ensured by 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive in conjunction with ABS, ESP® and the 4ETS Electronic Traction System. On or off-road, in wet weather, ice or snow: traction, driving dynamics and driving stability are improved. The all-wheel drive system achieves this without the need for conventional differential locks. Instead the wheels with insufficient traction are specifically slowed down, while torque is increased at the wheels with good traction. With these fast, automatic braking impulses it is possible to achieve pretty much the same effect as with three differential locks. The main component of 4MATIC is a single-stage transfer case with an open planetary center differential, which balances the difference in speed between the axles. The brake force distribution of 40:60 between the front and rear axles guarantees enhanced driving dynamics and higher traction while accelerating.
Sports Direct-Steer System.
The combination of the AMG-specific Sports Direct-Steer system, compact Performance steering wheel, elastokinematics on the front axle and more robustly designed rear-axle stabilizer bar, leads to an outstanding handling in all operating conditions. The variable steering ratio makes for significantly improved agility, while high-speed driving safety is maintained. The variable power assistance is dependent on the vehicle speed and the DYNAMIC SELECT program and adapts perfectly to the driving situation. In comparison to the standard series models, the Sports Direct-Steer System of the Mercedes-AMG GLE 43 Coupé comes with an even sportier tuning.
