At AMG, this has always been part of our philosophy. Because we are looking for the next challenge. In every project, in every vehicle, in every individual part. It is therefore not surprising that the Mercedes-AMG GLA 45 can accelerate to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds – a notable compact SUV.

We start from the back: The rear appears in an distinctive look. The new spoiler lip as well as the new diffuser insert in the rear apron reduce the uplift at the rear axle, which provides perfect driving stability. Typical for the front: the AMG radiator grille with twin blades in silver chrome and the new AMG front apron in A-wing design. Large cooling air intakes and distinctive fins on the air inlets underscore the confident dynamic appearance of the vehicle. That’s how a compact SUV gains respect on every terrain.

The exclusive AMG design differs significantly from the AMG Line of the standard model with an emphatically sporty, provocative look. One example is the new front apron, which integrates striking louvres in all three air intakes, thus also optimizing the airflow. The integral diffuser in the rear apron has been redesigned. In addition, the GLA 45 features a new AMG-specific spoiler lip on the rear. At the same time, the hallmark AMG "twin blade" radiator grille reinforces the recognition effect: now the louvres are finished in silver chrome as standard for an additionally uprated look. Also standard with the facelift are the LED high-performance headlamps.
In standard specification, the Mercedes-AMG GLA 45 runs on 48.3 cm (19-inch) AMG 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels painted in titanium gray with a high-sheen finish. As an optional extra, 50.8 cm (20-inch) AMG 10-spoke as well as multi-spoke light-alloy wheels are available. Both variants can be ordered either painted in titanium gray with a high-sheen finish or painted in matte black with a high-sheen rim flange.
From typical AMG to restrained, the sound of the AMG sports exhaust system adapts to the selected transmission mode by means of a variably adjustable exhaust flap. An attractive look is ensured by two chrome-plated tailpipe trim elements in a twin tailpipe design. The electric exhaust flap is infinitely variably controlled across the entire engine speed range by means of maps stored in the transmission mode. The double-declutching function when changing down, ignition interruption when changing up and also the controlled misfire in overrun mode underscore the sporty characteristics in the corresponding transmission modes.
Additionally, the AMG Performance exhaust system is optionally available for the Mercedes-AMG GLA 45. It features an even sportier character and reinforces the emotional sound experience. In the interior, the impressive sound can be experienced even more intensively at the push of a button.
The new front apron and the spoiler lip on the rear plus other measures have contributed significantly to improving the aerodynamics. With the minimized aerodynamic resistance as a result, the GLA 45 boasts a high level of aerodynamic efficiency, despite a lift balance designed for performance. It has thus been possible to improve the Cd value by 11 points. The optional AMG Aerodynamics package contributes to the further optimization of the aerodynamic performance of the vehicle and ensures even greater negative lift force on the road.
Other terrain? Same attitude.
Anyone who sits in an AMG Performance seat, with its more powerful contouring and integrated headrest, encounters high-quality materials and sporty elegance. Seat cushions and armrests offer even better lateral support and lend their own sporty look to the interior of the Mercedes-AMG GLA 45. The AMG E-SELECT selector lever and the optional AMG Performance steering wheel with silver-colored aluminum shift paddles round out the dynamically attractive interior. That way the pilot does not only have the vehicle, but also any terrain under control.

In the interior, too, the GLA 45 looks even more exclusive with a sense of high-class appeal. The dashboard is finished in ARTICO man-made leather with red topstitching. The AMG E-SELECT lever and the key with AMG crest are also part of the scope of standard equipment. An additionally attractive feature is the revised AMG instrument cluster with new-look numerals and a scale divided into 30 km/h increments. The new AMG design trim element in black/red additionally lends the interior an individual highlight. In conjunction with the Exclusive package, this trim element is finished in the color combination black/silver.
AMG Sports Seats.
The sports seats in ARTICO man-made leather/DINAMICA microfiber with red contrasting topstitching set new standards in terms of both appearance and quality. And, to better adapt to different body sizes, the sports seats now come equipped with an adjustable seat cushion depth as standard.
As an optional extra, the new Mercedes-AMG GLA 45 can be equipped with AMG Performance seats. They offer superior lateral support due to the contouring of the side bolsters for the seat cushion and backrest. The seat center panels in DINAMICA microfiber with red stripes in nappa leather, seat side bolsters in ARTICO man-made leather, black seat belt guides and red contrasting topstitching give the interior a sporty and distinctive look.
The new multifunction sports steering wheel with a flattened lower rim section, perforated leather in the grip area and contrasting topstitching is not just optically attractive – with silver-colored shift paddles it invites you to manual gear changes and offers the driver to truly take control of the driving experience.
As an optional extra, the driver can decide for the AMG Performance steering wheel in nappa leather/DINAMICA microfiber. For an even better grip, it features the grip area finished in DINAMICA microfiber. The 12-o'clock marking, a steering wheel bezel in silver chrome with "AMG" lettering and silver-colored aluminum shift paddles round off the sporty design.
The new AMG instrument cluster in two-tube look offers exciting AMG design and valuable information for sporty drivers. The AMG main menu including RACETIMER is displayed in high resolution and in color on the central 11.4 cm multifunction display. The AMG start-up screen, on the other hand, appears in the media display in the center of the dashboard. The upper part of the display shows the transmission mode and sailing function, as well as the selected gear in manual mode in a magnified design. Exclusivity and sportiness are visually underscored by the two-tube look of the round dials with carbon fiber-look backplates. Other features are the speedometer with 320 km/h dial and AMG lettering in the rev counter, AMG-specific lettering including a new digit design as well as new red needles with black needle caps.
AMG DRIVE UNIT.
The AMG DRIVE UNIT comprising the E-SELECT lever and the new AMG DYNAMIC SELECT controller supports the dynamic sportiness and expresses the central control unit for the AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission. The four individual drive modes (five in conjunction with the optional DYNAMIC PLUS Package) can be selected via the new AMG DYNAMIC SELECT controller.
What do AMG drivers and AMG engineers have in common? They have gasoline running through their veins. With 280 kW (381 hp), the world’s most powerful series-production four-cylinder turbocharged engine supports that claim.
With a power density of 140 kW (190 hp), it even surpasses most Super Sports Cars. A twin-scroll turbocharger provides for spontaneous response and extremely high agility, offering you up to 475 Nm of torque. Moreover, the AMG Performance 4MATIC performance-oriented all-wheel drive system guarantees optimal power transmission.

AMG 2.0-Liter-R4-Turbo Engine.
The AMG 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine, developed independently by Mercedes-AMG and generating a peak output of 280 kW (381 hp) and maximum torque of 475 Nm, is still the world's most powerful series-produced four-cylinder turbocharged engine. The specific output of 141 kW (191 hp) per liter even exceeds that of most super cars. A twin-scroll turbocharger ensures instantaneous response with rapid buildup of boost pressure and torque: 475 Nm is permanently on tap between 2250 and 5000 rpm. It combines fascinating power output, extreme stability and exemplary efficiency.
AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-Speed Sports Transmission.
The AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission allows extremely dynamic acceleration and ultra-short shift times, as well as a fuel-saving driving style. This is due, among other things, to the simplified operating logic of the RACE-START function, ignition interruption during upshifts, the double-declutching function and, above all, the new gear ratios. With 7 gears, 4 transmission settings specific to the drive mode (five in conjunction with the AMG DYNAMIC PLUS package) and a manual mode, the AMG sports transmission provides the driver with a broad gearshift spectrum from extremely sporty to very comfortable.
It also offers the ECO Start/Stop function and a sailing mode in which the engine is decoupled from the drive system. This enables fuel consumption to be effectively reduced.
AMG PERFORMANCE 4MATIC.
This performance-oriented all-wheel drive always ensures the best possible combination of dynamism, traction and efficiency. A multi-disc clutch with AMG-specific electrohydraulic control integrated in the rear-axle differential makes spontaneously variable torque distribution possible. This ranges from the particularly economical pure front-wheel drive, for example for constant freeway driving, through to a distribution of 50:50 for dynamic driving maneuvers, in snow or on slippery surfaces. The all-wheel drive system is controlled in accordance with the selected setting of the three-stage ESP® Electronic Stability Program – ranging from safety-oriented/sporty to the best-possible performance on dedicated racetracks. The 4ETS dynamic handling control system additionally boosts driving safety and agility, particularly on surfaces offering varying grip or on slippery surfaces. It performs braking interventions to prevent one-sided wheelspin of the drive wheels when starting up the engine and accelerating. At the same time, the resulting locking differential effect transfers the drive torque to the wheels that have traction.
AMG Sport Suspension.
With independently developed AMG front and rear axles, the AMG sport suspension boasts the ideal attributes for fast cornering speeds and agile handling. All of the components are matched to provide high lateral acceleration and a reduced tendency to roll. A conventional steel suspension is used. This comprises a front-axle spring strut for wheel control, a tubular torsion bar and twin-tube shock absorber on the front axle, a solid anti-roll bar and single-tube shock absorber on the rear axle and also rear-axle springs.
Optionally, the AMG RIDE CONTROL sport suspension is available. With its adaptive damping system, it provides two different suspension levels: at the push of a button, the driver can choose between "Comfort" and "Sport." With these two settings, a large overall range is achieved between maximum driving dynamics and comfort. As such the electronically controlled damping system provides even sportier and if required also more comfortable tuning than the AMG sport suspension. The damping system works continuously for improved driving safety and better ride comfort. The damping tuning is controlled individually for each wheel and is dependent on the driving style, the road surface condition and the selected suspension setting.
Further components of the AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension include the additional RACE drive mode and two sets of different steering characteristics for the AMG speed-sensitive sports steering.
DYNAMIC PLUS Package.
Greater driving dynamics and even sportier vehicle handling come courtesy of the optionally available AMG DYNAMIC PLUS package. The mechanically controlled AMG front-axle differential lock provides improved traction in every driving situation, especially when the driver adopts a sporty driving style. This helps to prevent the driven wheel on the inside of the curve from spinning.
Other components of the package include the AMG RIDE CONTROL sport suspension with adaptive damping system and additional RACE drive mode. This drive mode is designed for maximum driving dynamics, e.g., for use on race tracks or closed-off circuits. The package is also stylish and at the same time functional thanks to the AMG Performance steering wheel, AMG E-SELECT selector lever and master key with AMG emblem.
