AMG High-Performance Composite Braking System.
Large, internally ventilated and perforated brake discs provide excellent deceleration. The composite brakes on the front increases fade resistance and reduce weight. The total weight reduction of around 3 kg lowers the unsprung masses on the wheel, improving the response of the spring/damper elements. Painting the brake calipers in red visually underscores the high performance of the brake system.
The brake discs consist of an aluminum bowl and a cast iron friction ring joined together by connecting arms. This floating bearing design ensures the friction ring is able to expand independently of the brake disc bowl. This reduces heat-induced stress and cracking under extreme conditions and extends service life. It also reduces deformation of the friction ring at high temperatures. This helps avoid the unpleasant vibrations that may occur during braking due to uneven brake disc wear.
The AMG high-performance ceramic composite braking system is available as an option for the CLS 63 AMG S-Model. Extremely short stopping distances, precise pressure points and outstanding fading resistance even in extreme conditions - the AMG ceramic high-performance composite brake system offers racetrack braking performance with a weight savings of around 40% over conventional composite brake discs.
AMG Sports Exhaust System.
The emotional and characteristic V8 sound of the AMG Sports exhaust system is particularly powerful when accelerating and during double declutching. The noise level is more reserved at constant speeds. Two chrome-plated twin tailpipe trim elements create a visually striking highlight.

AMG-Specific 4MATIC All-Wheel Drive.
The performance-oriented AMG 4MATIC all-wheel drive distributes the engine torque at a ratio of 33 to 67 percent (front/rear axle). The rear-biased power distribution provides signature AMG high driving dynamics and superlative driving enjoyment. The 3-stage ESP® has been tailored specifically to the permanent all-wheel drive system. In "SPORT Handling" mode, the Torque Vectoring Brake performs selective braking interventions on individual wheels to generate high agility, avoiding understeering when turning and cornering. In curves, targeted brief braking of the inner rear wheel provides defined vehicle cornering.
The AMG 4MATIC all-wheel drive enhances driving safety and grip on wet or wintry road surfaces. Optimum traction is guaranteed by a multi-disk clutch with a locking effect of 50 Nm that fully exploits the frictional connection potential of all four wheels, especially on snow and ice.
The technical core of the all-wheel drive system is a transfer case offering additional power distribution to the driven rear axle. This transfer case is integrated compactly into the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission and requires virtually no additional installation space. Torque is transmitted from the power take-off to the front axle via a propeller shaft. An intermediate shaft ensures power transmission to the front-left drive shaft, passing through an encapsulated shaft duct in the engine oil pan. The compact and weight-optimized design results in a comparatively low added weight for the all-wheel-drive system of only 70 kilograms.
