The AMG CLS 63 Coupé can’t deny its biggest passion: curves. The vehicle evokes dynamic forward motion – edges, lines, and curves define its appearance. “Twin blade” and “A-wing,” striking design elements typical for AMG, dominate the elongated front end. Small AMG lettering adorns the “twin blades” between the louvres. The three-dimensional aerodynamic guide element “A-wing” stretches across the entire width of the front apron and forms the stylized “A” characteristic of AMG vehicles. In the CLS 63 AMG Coupé ,the dramatic, elegant styling of striking vehicle design is combined with a groundbreaking new AMG design idiom. It includes a front design that incorporates the AMG radiator grille with twin louvres in silver chrome and a masculine AMG front apron with an eye-catching A-wing design and trim strip in silver chrome. The large cooling air inlets are surrounded by black flics as additional ways to guide the flow of cooling air. These elements perfectly complement the AMG-specific bonnet and wider front wings. The impressive side design includes AMG side sill panels and 48.6 cm (19-inch) AMG triple-spoke light-alloy wheels. The powerful AMG rear apron with side air outlets and diffuser insert, and the AMG sports exhaust system with two chrome-plated twin tailpipe trim elements add dynamic final touches.

The vehicle's dynamic character is reflected in its striking AMG design. This includes an AMG front apron in an A-wing design in the vehicle color with A-wing trim strip in silver chrome, as well as AMG side sill panels and an AMG rear apron with side air outlets and a diffuser insert.
Pioneer of the coupé design.
You can’t predict the future – but you can shape it. And that’s precisely what Mercedes-Benz succeeded in doing when it launched the CLS in 2003. It was the birth of a new vehicle category, which for the first time combined the elegance and dynamics of a coupé with the comfort and functionality of a sedan. Customers marveled and rivals were left stunned: Over the years, the CLS has remained the only four-door coupé in its class.
The new CLS draws its inspiration from the pioneering advances of its predecessor, yet at the same time the vehicle is also a brand new model in its own right. The innovative front end immediately catches the eye. The CLS is also the first car in the world to feature LED High Performance headlamps, which combine the fascinating color effect, similar to daylight, of LED technology with the performance, functionality, and energy efficiency of today’s bi-xenon generation.
Its “dropping line,” the name designers use to describe the front structural edge above the fender, sets new standards in style: the perfect proportions to add both length and elegance. A distinctive and muscular sports car-style shoulder line above the rear axle highlights the athletic character of the new CLS.
AMG Front Styling.
Twin blade and A Wing are the two striking, hallmark AMG design features on the front end of the vehicle, and they make the CLS 63 AMG instantly recognizable. The "Twin blade" radiator grille in silver chrome comes with characteristic AMG lettering between the louvers. This three-dimensional "A-Wing" air control element spans the entire width of the front apron and displays the stylized "A" that serves as a hallmark of AMG vehicles.
AMG Light-Alloy Wheels.
The CLS 63 AMG comes standard with triple-spoke AMG light-alloy wheels painted titanium grey and featuring a high-sheen finish. 255/35 R 19 tires are fitted to 9.0 x 19 wheels on the front, while the 10 x 19 rear wheels have 285/30 R 19 tires.
AMG High-Performance Braking System.
Large, internally ventilated and perforated brake discs provide excellent deceleration. The composite brakes on the front increase fade resistance and reduce weight. The total weight reduction of around 3 kg lowers the unsprung masses on the wheels, improving the response of the spring/damper elements. The brake discs consist of an aluminum bowl and a cast iron friction ring joined together by connecting arms. This floating bearing design ensures the friction ring is able to expand independently of the brake disc bowl. This reduces heat-induced stress and cracking under extreme conditions and extends service life. It also reduces deformation of the friction ring at high temperatures. This helps avoid the unpleasant vibrations that may occur during braking due to uneven brake disc wear.
AMG Sports Exhaust System.
The emotional and characteristic V8 sound of the AMG Sports exhaust system is particularly powerful when accelerating and during double declutching. The noise level is more reserved at constant speeds. Two chrome-plated twin tailpipe trim elements create a visually striking highlight.
The interior of the CLS 63 AMG offers the perfect synthesis of exclusivity, sportiness and functionality – from the AMG performance steering wheel with silver-colored aluminum shift paddles to the AMG sports seats and rear seats in nappa leather. The colors black, crystal grey and silk beige are available standard for the interior, along with black piano lacquer trim. This already exclusive interior can be further enhanced with a comprehensive range of designo features or with the Exclusive package, which includes additional leather-lined elements and a headliner in DINAMICA microfiber.

AMG Instrument Cluster.
The AMG instrument cluster offers an exciting AMG design and valuable information for sporty drivers. The AMG main menu including RACETIMER and the AMG start-up screen are shown in high resolution and in color on the central 11.4 cm TFT multifunction display. Exclusivity and sportiness are visually underscored by the speedometer with 320-km/h dial and AMG logo, "V8 BITURBO" lettering in the rev counter, AMG-specific lettering on the displays, and red hands. The RACETIMER allows drivers to measure and store lap times.
AMG Performance Steering Wheel.
For even better control during sporty maneuvers, the grip area on the AMG performance steering wheel in nappa leather can be optionally lined with DINAMICA microfiber. Silver-colored aluminum shift paddles, black topstitching and a black 12 o'clock mark round out the sporty design.
AMG Sports Seats.
The AMG sports seats offer excellent lateral support thanks to specialized upholstery with more pronounced contours and higher side bolsters at the front, as well as the finest nappa leather. The AMG-specific seat upholstery layout with stitching and an "AMG" badge in the front seat backrests create an exclusive look and feel. Perforated nappa leather further accentuates the sporty character.

AMG Drive Unit.
This central operating unit for all driving dynamics functions includes an aluminum E-SELECT selector lever with a nappa leather insert and embossed AMG medallion. The AMG DRIVE UNIT also provides the driver with an electronic rotary switch for selecting driving modes, a button for selecting ESP® modes, a button for manually adjusting suspension settings, and a memory button for restoring the driver’s preferred combination of driving mode and suspension setting.
Impressive power and fuel economy, racetrack performance and functionality – certainly not contradictory terms for the CLS 63 AMG. Its AMG 5.5-Liter V8 Biturbo Engine combines an output of 410 kW (557 hp) and 720 Nm of torque with a combined fuel consumption of just 10.4-9.9 l/100 km and CO2 emissions of 243-231 g/km. The performance-oriented 4MATIC all-wheel drive developed by Mercedes‑AMG (optional extra) has a rear-biased torque distribution of 33:67 as well as light pre-lock torque, to combine optimum traction and hallmark AMG driving dynamics. The superior handling characteristics also come courtesy of the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission as well as the AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension. It can be manually adjusted to any of the three settings: "Comfort", "Sport" and "Sport Plus", and includes a second, more direct, steering characteristics filein both of the two "Sport" settings for use on the highway or the race track.

AMG Speedshift MCT 7-Speed Sports Transmission.
With seven speeds, four transmission modes, RACE START, and double-declutching functions, this transmission allows for extremely dynamic acceleration and ultra-short shift times as well as a fuel-saving driving style. Depending on their preferred driving style, the driver can choose between an efficient and comfortable style in "C" driving mode (Controlled Efficiency), a brisk and sporty style in "S" (Sport) and "S+" (Sport Plus) or a manual style in "M". Gear shifts are executed with virtually no interruption in tractive power. A partial cut-off of individual cylinders during upshifts allows for extremely sporty gearshifts in less than 100 milliseconds. Ultra-fast, responsive multiple downshifts are another forte of the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission. For instance, kickdown allows the driver to downshift directly from seventh to fourth gear or from fifth to second. The RACE START function provides optimal acceleration from rest or from the starting line in motorsports events. "C" driving mode allows for comfortable driving at low engine speeds. An ECO start/stop function is also available. This enables drivers to effectively reduce fuel consumption.
AMG RIDE CONTROL Sports Suspension.
With its adjustable, electronically controlled damping system, this chassis provides both sporty driving dynamics as well as brand-typical comfort on long journeys. The front axle features a steel suspension while the rear axle uses an AMG-specific air suspension for perfect responsiveness while keeping the vehicle at a constant height. The driver is can manually adjust the suspension to "Comfort", "Sport" and "Sport Plus" settings – from highly comfortable to sporty and firm, for example for fast cornering. Optimum spring/damper tuning in combination with the AMG-specific 4MATIC all-wheel drive (optional extra) enables an even greater steering axis inclination. The damping system works continuously. This improves handling safety and riding comfort. The damping tuning is controlled individually for each wheel and depends on driving style, road surface conditions, and the selected suspension setting. In combination with the AMG-specific 4MATIC all-wheel drive, the vehicle level at the rear axle adjusts according to the selected suspension setting and road speed to provide enhanced comfort and greater stability.
The AMG cooling system with additional wheel housing radiator has been specifically developed for the increased engine output. It provides higher airflow and improved cooling performance, which allows it to increase stability even in extreme conditions.
AMG Speed-Sensitive Sports Steering.
With a constant, direct steering ratio of 13.5 : 1, the AMG speed-sensitive sports steering supports a sporty driving style. Steering characteristics are adapted for sporty or comfortable steering feedback depending on the selected suspension.
