Form follows performance – the design of the powerful V8 top model is influenced by motorsport and reflects its fascinating technology. Sensual clarity combined with stylish sporting character – : The Mercedes-AMG C 63 S has curves. It loves curves too.
The emotional, sensual surface design of the new C-Class, with its reduced, minimalist forms, now has an added, positive tension that gives it a truly dynamic character. The wider track and powerful eight-cylinder call for a completely standalone front end. The Mercedes-AMG C 63 S has aluminum front wings, widened on each side by 14 millimeters and bearing “V8 BITURBO” lettering. The entire front end has also been lengthened by 54 millimeters. In addition, the structure of the body-in-white has been reinforced in specific areas in order to compensate for the extreme longitudinal and transverse forces generated and transmitted by the drivetrain and running gear.
Mercedes-AMG sets clear accents in sporting character, expressed succinctly at the front end – gracing the long aluminum engine cover are two distinctive power domes. Together with the wider wings, they guarantee a particularly muscular look. Positioned low down and with a characteristic arrow form, the “twin blade” radiator grille with AMG lettering lowers the vehicle’s visual center of gravity.
The “A-wing” takes a three-dimensional form and also serves as an airflow guide for the three cooling air intakes. Flics ensure optimum airflow to the cooling module. Along the lower edge of the front skirt, a front splitter helps to reduce lift.
At the rear end, the diffuser insert with three fins is a feature carried over from motorsport, as are the visual air outlets positioned on either side. They generate defined air separation edges and improve the cd value. The two chrome-plated twin end pipes of the AMG sport exhaust system are perfectly integrated into the diffuser.
The spoiler lip on the trunk lid provides even better traction for the rear axle.

AMG High-Performance Braking.
Large, internally ventilated and perforated brake discs all round provide for excellent deceleration. The composite technology at the front increases fade resistance and reduces weight. The reduction of weight lowers the unsprung masses on the wheel, thereby improving the response of the spring/damper elements and overall stability.

Extremely short braking distances, precise pressure point and very high fade resistance even in extreme operating conditions - the AMG ceramic high-performance composite brake system offers race track braking performance, with the ceramic brake discs being around 30% lighter than standard composite brake discs.

Brake calipers are specially painted and marked with “AMG Carbon Ceramic” lettering.
AMG Exhaust System.
The sound of the AMG sports exhaust system adapts to the currently selected transmission mode by means of a variably adjustable exhaust flap: from a sonorous sound typical for AMG to more reserved noise levels. The electric exhaust flap is infinitely variably controlled across the entire engine speed range by means of maps stored in the transmission mode. A blip on the throttle (in transmission mode S) and a misfire (in transmission modes S+ and Race) emphasize the sporty characteristics of the particular transmission modes. An attractive look is ensured by two chrome-plated twin tailpipe trim elements.
Two additional exhaust flaps allow for even greater differentiation of the sound characteristics. The sound characteristics of the AMG Performance Exhaust System are dependent on the currently selected transmission mode and fully adapt to the currently selected transmission mode by means of three variably adjustable exhaust flaps – from full-sounding in transmission modes C and S to emphatically sporty in transmission modes S+ and Race. Control of the exhaust flaps is dependent on both engine speed and load, guaranteeing a 100% power delivery. The driver can also change the sound characteristics at the press of a button. If desired, the cold start noise can be reduced in transmission modes C and S. This optional extra allows a maximum spread of the sound, from comfortable to highly emotive.
Entirely unencumbered, and firmly anchored.
The interior of the Mercedes-AMG C 63 S lives up to its “S” designation with precise additional details. The careful choice of select, first-class materials, their sumptuous tactile qualities and their precision craftsmanship deliver a sense of quality that is seldom seen even in higher vehicle classes.
The dashboard is finished in black ARTICO man-made leather, with the premium look-and-feel further enhanced by stitching in crystal gray, the wing-like trim element in aluminum and the AMG-exclusive, IWC-design analogue clock (depending on equipment choice). Next to the touchpad is the AMG DYNAMIC SELECT switch as well as a number of AMG-specific controls, such as the button for the 3-stage RIDE CONTROL sport suspension, the 3-stage ESP® and the optional button for the Performance exhaust system with flap control.
The instrument binnacle and the 3-spoke Performance steering wheel with 12-o’clock mark deliver a dynamically sporty ambience. Equipped with dedicated carbon-look dials, the speedometer scale goes all the way to 320 km/h.
Performance seats are also available as an alternative to the standard sports seats in ARTICO man-made leather/DINAMICA microfiber. They give occupants a lower seating position and ensure increased lateral grip due to their more powerfully contoured form.

The AMG instrument cluster offers an exciting AMG design and valuable information for sporty drivers. Exclusivity and sportiness are visually underscored by the 2-tube look of the round dials with carbon-fiber-look backplates and a surround in silver chrome. The speedometer with 320 km/h dial is on the left, the rev counter with AMG logo on the right. The AMG main menu including RACETIMER and the AMG start-up screen are shown in high resolution and in color on the central 13.97 cm TFT multifunction display. With the RACETIMER it is possible to measure and store lap times. The individual transmission modes are displayed in an AMG-specific way.
AMG Performance Steering Wheel.
The AMG Performance Steering Wheel serves the purpose of being the best interface to connect you to the road.
For outstanding vehicle control, the AMG performance steering wheel in nappa leather features flattened top and bottom sections as well as grip areas lined with DINAMICA microfiber. Colored topstitching, a colored 12-o'clock marking, silver-colored aluminum shift paddles and 2 inserts in matte chrome underscore the sense of sportiness.

Under the hood of the Mercedes-AMG C 63 S is an all-new 4.0-liter V8 Biturbo engine - an engine which is closely related to that used in the Mercedes-AMG GT. The eight-cylinder Biturbo engine will deliver exceptional performance with an unrivaled power output range of up to 375 kW (510 hp) and 700 Nm of torque. At the same time the eight-cylinder high-performance vehicle impresses with low emissions and the world's best fuel economy in the segment. The latest member of the AMG BlueDIRECT engine family sets absolute standards with a fuel consumption of 8.2 liters/100 km (NEDC combined).
AMG Speedshift MCT 7-Speed Sports Transmission.
With seven speeds as well as RACE START and double-declutching functions, this transmission allows extremely dynamic acceleration and ultra-short shift times as well as a fuel-saving driving style. Consistent further development of hardware and software has made it possible to further optimize the reaction times. This means that the driver's shift commands can be carried out faster than ever before. Depending on the preferred driving style, the driver has a choice between an efficient and comfortable setting in transmission mode "C" (Comfort), a brisk and sporty style in "S" (Sport) and "S+" (Sport Plus), Race or manual style in "M". Gearshifts are executed with virtually no interruption in tractive power. Ultra-fast, responsive multiple downshifts are another forte of the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission. For instance, kickdown allows the driver to shift down directly from seventh to fourth gear or from fifth to second. The RACE START function supports optimal acceleration from rest or from the starting line in motor sports events.
AMG RIDE CONTROL Sports Suspension.
With its adaptive adjustable damping, the suspension provides three levels at the touch of a button. The driver can choose between “Comfort,” "Sport“ and "Sport +” and thus adjust the damping characteristics to the driving conditions - from comfortable cruising through to a sporty, agile driving style.
Mechanical AMG Rear Axle Differential Lock.
In contrast to a conventional differential, the AMG rear-axle limited-slip differential uses multi-disc clutches and two thrust rings. The clutch redistributes the drive torque to the wheel with the better traction, and thus the spinning of the inside wheel is prevented.
The electronically controlled AMG limited-slip differential on the rear axle ensures more agility and greater driving pleasure. While offering all the advantages of a mechanical limited-slip differential, it also guarantees increased driving stability in slaloms or when changing lane at high speed.
AMG Dynamic Engine Mounts.
The two basic functions of an engine mounting are to hold the engine in place and to isolate the body as effectively as possible from engine vibrations. Soft mountings are characterized by high comfort and rather poor driving dynamics. On the other hand, hard mountings make for superior driving dynamics at the expense of reduced comfort. This conflict of goals between as soft as possible a mounting for high comfort and a hard mounting for improved driving dynamics is resolved by dynamic AMG engine mountings. They ensure the optimal connection between engine and body in every driving situation to ensure that both goals are achieved. A driving situation detection function correctly assesses the current situation to enable the optimum damping and stiffness values to be automatically selected to suit every driving situation. The basic tuning of the dynamic AMG engine mountings can be decided by the drivers themselves by selecting the transmission mode. This applies to transmission modes "C" (Comfort), "S" (Sport) and "S+" (Sport Plus).
