The distinctive front end of the new Mercedes-AMG C 63 S Cabriolet seems even wider than on the Mercedes-AMG C 63 S Sedan. With its striking power domes, the AMG hood provides a clear reference to the impressive power of the power plant beneath. The AMG front apron in A-wing design with front splitter and large cooling air inlets as well as the wide-flared AMG wings with "V8 BITURBO" lettering underscore the sportiness. The AMG radiator grille, positioned low down, with twin louvers in matte iridium silver and "AMG" lettering visually lowers the vehicle's center of gravity, thus ensuring enhanced dynamics.
The side design is resplendent with AMG light-alloy wheels and AMG-specific side sill panels. One of the unique optical characteristics of the Mercedes-AMG C 63 S Cabriolet is its dominant width. The distinctive, wider wheel arch flares – on each side 32 mm at the front and 33 mm at the rear compared to the production car – make the Cabriolet even wider than the Sedan, allow for installing wider tires and make the vehicle even sportier. The opening and closing of the high-quality fabric top is possible up to a road speed of 50 km/h and takes only approximately 20 seconds. The soft top mechanism functions fully automatically and is activated by pressing the lever cabriolet control cluster.
The dynamic end takes shape by the highly expressive rear end with AMG spoiler lip and the AMG sports exhaust system with two chrome-plated twin tailpipe trim elements. The AMG rear apron, featuring trim elements and three diffuser fins, underscores the expressive character of the vehicle.
AMG Exhaust System.
From typical AMG to restrained, the sound of the AMG sports exhaust system adapts to the currently selected transmission mode by means of a variably adjustable exhaust flap. An attractive look is ensured by two chrome-plated twin tailpipe trim elements. Additionally, the selectable AMG Performance exhaust system with flap control is optionally available for the Mercedes-AMG C 63 S Cabriolet. Three variably adjustable exhaust flaps are used to adapt the sound to the selected transmission mode. The driver can also change the sound characteristics at the press of a button.
High-Performance Braking System.
The AMG high performance compound brake system, with its generously sized brake discs that are fully internally ventilated and perforated, provides excellent braking capacity. The compound technology at the front increases fade resistance and reduces weight. The reduction of weight lowers the unsprung masses on the wheel, thereby improving the response of the spring/damper elements.
- On the front axle it features compound brake discs measuring 390 x 36 mm, internally ventilated and perforated with six-piston fixed caliper,
- on the rear axle brake discs measuring 360 x 26 mm, internally ventilated and perforated with one-piston floating caliper are being used.
- All brake calipers are painted red and marked with a black AMG logo.
The optionally available AMG high-performance ceramic composite braking system provides for weight savings of about 50% compared to conventional brake discs and convinces with extremely short stopping distances, a precise pressure point and outstanding fade resistance even in extreme operating conditions.
The AMG high-performance ceramic composite braking system includes
- the front axle: compound ceramic disc with a diameter of 402 x 39 mm, with six-piston fixed caliper, internally ventilated and perforated.
- The rear axle boasts an integral brake disc with a diameter of 360 x 26 mm with one-piston combined floating brake caliper, internally ventilated, grooved and perforated.
- Brake calipers are specially painted and marked with “AMG Carbon Ceramic” lettering.
The Mercedes-AMG C 63 S Cabriolet comes as standard with 19-inch (48.3 cm) AMG 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels, painted in titanium gray and with high-sheen finish with tires of size 255/35 R19 (FA) respectively 285/30 (RA) as standard equipment. In addition, e.g., 19-inch (48.3 cm) and 20-inch (50.8 cm) AMG cross-spoke forged wheels are available as an optional extra. Exclusively for the Mercedes-AMG C 63 S, the driver can decide for the optionally available 19/20-inch (48.3 cm/50.8 cm) AMG Performance 5-twin-spoke forged wheels, painted in matte black and with high-sheen rim flange.

A-wing on the AMG front apron and A-wing trim strip, AMG side sill panel inserts, exterior mirror housings, beltline trim strip, window weather strip and trim strip on the AMG rear apron in high-gloss black as well as the Louvre on radiator trim in silver chrome and heat-insulating dark-tinted glass starting from the B-pillar (840) as well as the AMG sports exhaust system with two black chrome-plated twin tailpipe trim elements.
Thanks to its sporty details visible from any perspective, the AMG Carbon Package Exterior I gives the vehicle a clear dynamic boost:

As an optional extra, the new Mercedes-AMG C-Class Cabriolet can be equipped with AMG Performance seats. They provide the driver with optimum lateral support during dynamic driving, ensure comfortable thigh support and offer optimum adjustment to the driver due to seat cushion depth adjustment and pneumatically adjustable side bolsters in seat cushion and backrest.
As standard equipment for the C 63 S Cabriolet, the driver can decide for the AMG Performance steering wheel in black nappa leather/DINAMICA microfiber. For an even better grip, it features the grip area finished in DINAMICA microfiber. The 12-o'clock marking and topstitching in appointments color, a steering wheel bezel in silver chrome with "AMG" lettering, and silver-colored aluminum shift paddles round off the sporty design.
The AMG instrument cluster offers an exciting AMG design and valuable information for sporty drivers. Exclusivity and sportiness are visually underscored by the two-tube look of the round dials with carbon fiber-look backplates and a surround in silver chrome. On the left is the speedometer with red-highlighted 320 km/h dial, on the right the rev counter with AMG logo. The AMG main menu including RACETIMER and the AMG start-up screen are shown in high resolution and in color on the central 13.97 cm TFT multifunction display. With the RACETIMER it is possible to measure and store lap times. The various transmission modes are displayed in an AMG-specific way.
Is there anything better than driving with the top down? There is. Driving with the top down and AIRSCARF. It is available as a special feature for the C 63 Cabriolet. AIRSCARF is a neck-level heating that makes open-top driving a pleasure even at low temperatures. Through air outlets in the head restraints, pleasantly warm air is “wrapped” around the necks of the driver and front passenger like an invisible scarf. The desired temperature can be set in three stages.
In the time it takes to read this sentence, the C 63 S Cabriolet will have accelerated from zero to 100 kilometers per hour. Even while your eyes are still contemplating the first letters, the rear-axle differential lock has already distributed the force of the V8 biturbo perfectly to the rear wheels. And while your brain is putting together the letters to create individual words, the 7-speed sports transmission is firing through the gears, one after the other. AMG 4.0-Liter-V8-Biturbo Engine.
Under the hood of the new Mercedes-AMG C 63 S Cabriolet operates the 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine M177, which is closely related to the engine of the Mercedes-AMG GT and rigorously designed for sporty performance as well as handling situations with extreme forward and lateral acceleration. Due to the application of various performance-oriented technologies like NANOSLIDE®—coating of the cylinder liners, crankcase produced using sand and gravity die-casting technology or the integration of the turbochargers in the hot “inside V,” it produces 375 kW (510 hp) and delivers an impressive torque of 700 Nm. This impressive power accelerates the C 63 S Cabriolet from 0 – 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds and allows for a top speed of 250 km/h (electronically limited) or even 280 km/h in conjunction with the optional AMG Driver’s Package. Despite this maximum performance, the engine impresses with a favorable fuel consumption of 9.3-8.9l/100 km (NEDC combined) and complies with the Euro 6 emissions standard.
AMG Speedshift MCT 7-Speed Sports Transmission.
With seven speeds as well as RACE START and double-declutching functions, this transmission allows extremely dynamic acceleration and ultra-short shift times as well as a fuel-saving driving style. Consistent further development of hardware and software has made it possible to further optimize the reaction times. This means that the driver's shift commands can be carried out faster than ever before. Depending on the preferred driving style, the driver has a choice between an efficient and comfortable setting in transmission mode "C" (Comfort), a brisk and sporty style in "S" (Sport) and "S+" (Sport Plus), Race or manual style in "M." Gearshifts are executed with virtually no interruption in tractive power. Ultra-fast, responsive multiple downshifts are another forte of the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission. For instance, kickdown allows the driver to shift down directly from seventh to fourth gear or from fifth to second. The RACE START function supports optimal acceleration from rest or from the starting line in motor sports events.
AMG Ride Control Sports Suspension with adaptive adjustable damping.
With its adjustable, electronically controlled damping system, this steel chassis provides both sporty driving dynamics as well as brand-typical comfort on long journeys. The basis for this comes courtesy of a four-link front axle and a multi-link independent rear suspension. The AMG-specific kinematics and elastokinematics with newly developed components result in very high camber stability during dynamic cornering and at the same time improve comfort. The racing oriented, radial brake connection on the front axle supports agile, precise handling. The driver is able to manually adjust the suspension to the three settings of "Comfort," "Sport" and "Sport+" – from highly comfortable to sporty and firm, for example for fast cornering. The damping system is continuously in operation. This improves handling safety and ride comfort. The damping tuning is controlled individually for each wheel and is dependent on the driving style, the road surface condition and the selected suspension setting.
Rear-Axle Limited-Slip Differential.
In contrast to a conventional differential, the AMG rear-axle limited-slip differential uses multi-disc clutches and two thrust rings. The electronically controlled AMG limited-slip differential on the rear axle provides improved traction in every driving situation, especially when the driver adopts a sporty driving style. By reducing the slip on the inside driven wheel without control intervention of the brake and directing torque to the wheel with better grip, it allows better acceleration out of corners as well as an even more precise vehicle handling. Compared to the mechanically controlled limited-slip differential on the rear axle, it guarantees further increased driving stability in slaloms or when changing lane at high speed and thereby provides even more agility and greater driving pleasure. Additionally, it increases comfort when maneuvering or in city traffic and proves its worth in a wide range of different road conditions, including in difficult environmental situations or weather conditions.
A comfortable, sporty, highly sporty or completely individual suspension setting can be called up at the press of a button using the AMG DYNAMIC SELECT switch in the center console. With the selected drive mode, parameters such as the characteristics of the engine, transmission, suspension and steering are changed. Each time the ignition is restarted, the balanced, fuel-efficient "Comfort" mode is active as the default setting. More agility and dynamism are provided by the "Sport" drive mode, which features more direct steering characteristics, sporty, taut suspension tuning and also modified shift points. The element of sportiness can be enhanced even further in the "Sport+" drive mode. In this case the suspension and drive system are even more dynamically tuned. The ECO Start/Stop function is deactivated. The "RACE" drive mode is designed for race track performance. It impresses with maximum sportiness in terms of response, rev speed and shift times. The "Individual" drive mode enables the driver to adjust the various parameters – from the steering and drive system to the suspension – to suit their own requirements.
