The influences from motorsports are immediately apparent in the Mercedes-AMG A 45: The front apron in the new A-wing design gives the sporty proportions even more emphasis, the distinctive, three-dimensional A-wing additionally acts as an air feed to the three exclusively styled, AMG-specific cooling air inlets. LED High Performance headlamps with "eyebrows" as daytime driving lamps are included as standard. The A 45 also shows clear motorsport influences at the rear: the rear apron with four vertical fins and a striking spoiler lip in the diffuser provides a visual highlight.
Yet it is not only the design, but also the aerodynamics of the A 45 that the AMG developers have improved even further. In sports cars, it’s not just perfect aerodynamics that count, it’s also the vehicle’s driving dynamics. The aim for a sports car is not only to achieve perfect streamlining, but also the greatest possible downforce. In the A 45 the new combination of a spoiler lip under the front splitter, a rear apron with a diffuser insert and an AMG spoiler lip on the roof spoiler generates even less uplift for increased handling stability. These measures also improve the aerodynamic balance, with a positive effect on handling.

AMG Front Design.
By featuring the AMG front apron with the three-dimensional A-wing, the powerful AMG design brings out the dynamic design idiom of the A-Class even more impressively. The front splitter in matte titanium gray and distinctive high-gloss black flics above the large outer air intakes, each with two louvres, provide a dynamic note. Vertical fins in the center accentuate the optical appearance.
A twin louvre in silver chrome and "AMG" lettering on the AMG radiator grille underscores the characteristic AMG front end design.
AMG Light-Alloy Wheels.
The Mercedes-AMG A 45 comes as standard with 45.7 cm (18-inch) AMG 10-spoke light-alloy wheels painted in titanium gray and with a high-sheen finish, fitted with 235/40 R 18 tires.
19" (48.3 cm) AMG alloy wheels in a cross spoke design and 19" (48.3 cm) AMG alloy wheels in a multi-spoke design are offered for tire size 235/35 R 19. Both wheels are available with titanium gray paint and burnished or matte black paint with burnished rim flanges.

AMG NIGHT PACKAGE:
The AMG Night package features striking exterior features to lend the vehicle an expressive sporty character. Features include:

AMG AERODYNAMICS PACKAGE:
The AMG Aerodynamics package ensures increased downforce on the road and reduces stopping distances at high speeds, improving driving characteristics such as lateral acceleration and driving stability. Features include:
- A larger front splitter
- The AMG rear wing
- Additional flics on the front apron
- Side air flow break-away edges around the visual air outlets in the rear apron
LED High Performance Headlamps.
In addition to the striking look, the LED High-Performance headlamps provide more safety at night thanks to a wide light distribution, a light color that is similar to daylight and low energy consumption. Also in daytime, the clearly defined contours and high-quality detailing ensure an unmistakable front view. Thanks to the LED technology used in the low-beam and main-beam headlamps, the road is illuminated better than with conventional halogen headlamps. When unlocking the vehicle, the "Coming Home" function welcomes the driver with an exceptional light display. The fiber optic daytime running lamps first light up blue, then change color via a smooth transition into bright white.
From typical AMG to restrained, the sound of the AMG sports exhaust system adapts to the selected transmission mode by means of a variably adjustable exhaust flap. An attractive look is ensured by two chrome-plated tailpipe trim elements in a twin tailpipe design. The electric exhaust flap is infinitely variably controlled across the entire engine speed range by means of maps stored in the transmission mode. The double-declutching function when changing down, ignition interruption when changing up and also the controlled misfire in overrun mode underscore the sporty characteristics in the corresponding transmission modes.
Additionally, the AMG Performance exhaust system is optionally available for the Mercedes-AMG A 45. It features an even sportier character and reinforces the emotional sound experience. In the interior, the impressive sound can be experienced even more intensively at the push of a button.
AMG Rear Design.
The AMG rear apron with diffuser insert with four vertical fins and a diffuser spoiler lip not only underscores the expressive character of the vehicle but also reduces lift at the rear axle. The tail lights with a layout and technically striking night design fit in harmoniously to the sporty design. The new AMG spoiler lip on the roof spoiler and the sports exhaust system with tailpipe trim elements in twin-tailpipe design round off the exterior of this compact vehicle dynamically.
The interior is dynamic and sporty as well: The multifunction sport steering wheel ensures a perfect link between the car and its driver. The steering wheel rim with a flattened lower section, perforated leather in the grip area and contrasting topstitching is both attractive and pleasant to the touch. For better adjustment to suit different body sizes, the sport seats feature seat cushion depth adjustment as standard.
Thanks to latest-generation telematics, the new A 45 can also be perfectly networked with the modern smartphone and Internet environment. Options include e.g., COMAND Online with a WLAN module and extended functions such as optimal smartphone integration by Apple® CarPlayTM for iPhone® and MirrorLink®.

The sports seats in ARTICO man-made leather/DINAMICA microfiber with red contrasting topstitching set new standards in terms of both appearance and quality. And, to better adapt to different body sizes, the sports seats come equipped with an adjustable seat cushion depth as standard.
As an optional extra, the Mercedes-AMG A 45 can be equipped with AMG Performance seats. They offer superior lateral support due to the contouring of the side bolsters for the seat cushion and backrest. The seat center panels in DINAMICA microfiber with red stripes in nappa leather, seat side bolsters in ARTICO man-made leather, black seat belt guides and red contrasting topstitching give the interior a sporty and distinctive look.
The multifunction sports steering wheel with a flattened lower rim section, perforated leather in the grip area and contrasting topstitching is not just optically attractive – with silver-colored shift paddles it invites you to manual gear changes and offers the driver to truly take control of the driving experience. Laden with ergonomic function keys that operate the display menus in the instrument cluster and control audio devices, telephone and navigation system, it provides an impressive connection of Driver and Machine.
As an optional extra, the driver can decide for the AMG Performance steering wheel in nappa leather. For an even better grip it features the grip area finished in DINAMICA microfiber. The 12-o'clock marking, a steering wheel bezel in silver chrome with "AMG" lettering and silver-colored aluminum shift paddles round off the sporty design.
The AMG instrument cluster in two-tube look offers exciting AMG design and valuable information for sporty drivers. The AMG main menu including RACE TIMER is displayed in high resolution and in color on the central 11.4 cm multifunction display. The AMG start-up screen, on the other hand, appears in the media display in the center of the dashboard. The upper part of the display shows the transmission mode and sailing function, as well as the selected gear in manual mode in a magnified design. Exclusivity and sportiness are visually underscored by the two-tube look of the round dials with carbon fiber-look backplates. Other features are the speedometer with 320 km/h dial and AMG lettering in the rev counter, AMG-specific lettering including an exclusive digit design as well as red needles with black needle caps.

APPLE CARPLAYTM and MIRRORLINK®.
With this optionally available package it is possible to integrate an iPhone® into the vehicle via Apple CarPlayTM and also Android smartphones with MirrorLink®, and operate them by voice control – certain functions can also be operated via the vehicle controls. This makes safe use possible while on the move. In the case of Apple CarPlayTM, for example, the system supports telephone operation, navigation and music reproduction, receiving and sending text messages and emails, as well as Siri® voice control. The selected apps from third-party providers that are also supported include Stitcher Radio and Spotify. To prevent driver distraction while on the move, there is no complete duplication of smartphone content.
Unmistakably AMG: With 280 kW (381 HP) maximum power and 475 Nm maximum torque, the Mercedes-AMG A 45 4MATIC leaps forward into a new dimension of driving dynamics. The revised gear ratios, aerodynamic fine-tuning and the DYNAMIC SELECT driving modes raise overall performance to a higher level, underlining the claim to leadership in this market segment. The compact sedan completes a sprint from standstill to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds, 0.4 seconds faster than the preceding model. Maximum traction also on tight bends is ensured by the standard all-wheel drive and the optional front-axle differential available for the first time. At the same time fuel consumption has remained as before: no other high-performance model in this class can better its NEDC fuel consumption of 7.3 - 6.9 liters per 100 kilometers (corresponding to 171 - 162 g/km CO2).

AMG 2.0-Liter Inline 4 Turbo Engine.
The power output of the AMG 2.0-Liter Inline 4 Turbo engine, which was developed independently by Mercedes-AMG, was increased by 21 hp and 25 Nm by adapting the engine control system and a new exhaust camshaft. This means that it is still the most powerful series-produced 4-cylinder passenger car engine in the world. It combines fascinating power output, extreme stability and exemplary efficiency.

AMG Speedshift DCT 7-Speed Sports Transmission.
The revised AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission allows extremely dynamic acceleration and ultra-short shift times, as well as a fuel-saving driving style. This is due, among other things, to the simplified operating logic of the RACE-START function, ignition interruption during upshifts, the double-declutching function and, above all, the new gear ratios. With 7 gears, 4 transmission settings specific to the drive mode (5 in conjunction with the AMG DYNAMIC PLUS package) and a manual mode, the AMG sports transmission provides the driver with a broad gearshift spectrum from extremely sporty to very comfortable.
It also offers the ECO Start/Stop function and a sailing mode in which the engine is decoupled from the drive system. This enables fuel consumption to be effectively reduced.
Dynamic Plus Package.
Greater driving dynamics and even sportier vehicle handling come courtesy of the optionally available AMG DYNAMIC PLUS package. The mechanically controlled AMG front-axle differential lock provides improved traction in every driving situation, especially when the driver adopts a sporty driving style. This helps to prevent the driven wheel on the inside of the curve from spinning.
Other components of the package include the AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension with adjustable damping system and additional RACE drive mode. This drive mode is designed for maximum driving dynamics, e.g. for use on race tracks or closed-off circuits. The package is also stylish and at the same time functional thanks to the AMG Performance steering wheel, AMG E-SELECT selector lever and master key with AMG crest.
The AMG high-performance braking system with internally ventilated and perforated brake discs all-round offers excellent deceleration performance and precision brake control. At the front brake discs measuring 350 mm in diameter x 32 mm with 4-piston fixed calipers, at the rear brake discs measuring 330 mm in diameter x 22 mm with single-piston sliding caliper guarantee a powerful deceleration in all situations.
To visually underscore the performance of the braking system even further, red-painted brake calipers are available as an optional extra.
With an independently developed AMG front and rear axle, the AMG sports suspension boasts the ideal attributes for fast cornering speeds and agile handling. All of the components are matched to provide high lateral acceleration and a reduced tendency to roll. A conventional steel suspension is used. This comprises a front-axle spring strut for wheel control, a tubular torsion bar and twin-tube shock absorber on the front axle, a solid anti-roll bar and single-tube shock absorber on the rear axle and also rear axle springs.
With its adjustable damping system, the optionally available AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension provides two different suspension levels: at the push of a button, the driver can choose between "Comfort" and "Sport." With these two settings, a large overall range is achieved between maximum driving dynamics and comfort. As such the electronically controlled damping system provides even sportier and if required also more comfortable tuning than the AMG sports suspension. The damping system works continuously for improved driving safety and better ride comfort. The damping tuning is controlled individually for each wheel and is dependent on the driving style, the road surface condition and the selected suspension setting. Further components of the AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension include the additional RACE drive mode and two sets of different steering characteristics for the AMG speed-sensitive sports steering.
AMG Performance 4Matic.
As a standard feature of the Mercedes-AMG A 45, the performance-oriented all-wheel drive always ensures the best possible combination of dynamism, traction and efficiency. A multi-disc clutch with AMG-specific electrohydraulic control integrated in the rear-axle differential makes spontaneously variable torque distribution possible. This ranges from the particularly economical pure front-wheel drive, for example for constant highway driving, through to a distribution of 50: 50 for dynamic driving maneuvers, in snow or on slippery surfaces.
The all-wheel drive system is controlled in accordance with the selected setting of the 3-stage ESP® Electronic Stability Program – ranging from safety-oriented/sporty to the best-possible performance on dedicated racetracks.
