Peak performance is not a coincidence. This applies to every single Mercedes-AMG car. And the same goes for the driver and his/her performance. But if you are constantly pushing yourself to the limits, you have to know where they are. The greater the accuracy, the better the outcome. AMG TRACK PACE is the ideal system for this purpose because it transforms COMAND and your iPhone into a personal race engineer. Your drive can now be analyzed in detail, using more than 80 items of vehicle-specific data. You get precise information about lap and sector times you have posted on established tracks or on ones you have configured for yourself. Further information such as lateral and longitudinal acceleration, accelerator and brake pedal movements as well as steering angles assist in logging and continuously improving your performance.

AMG TRACK PACE incorporates telemetry and analysis as well as visualizations that are otherwise exclusive to professional racing engineers, thereby producing results that can significantly and precisely enhance your performance.

Slower than the speed of light, but faster than time

Recording lap times and lap data.

Fuel consumption combined: 10.8 l/100 km | CO2 emissions combined: 245 g/km | Emission Statement [1]

You don’t set the fastest lap time by simply starting your watch at the beginning and stopping it at the end. In order to precisely master each sector of the track, it is essential that you have accurate positional measurement.

Nothing is better for polishing your own performance than competition. That’s why we at Mercedes-AMG take positional accuracy and your ability to fulfil your potential very seriously – in every sense of the meaning. TRACK PACE has a specially developed algorithm that determines your vehicle position with maximum accuracy. Sensors installed in the vehicle supplement GPS/GLONASS by collecting data such as acceleration, gyroscope readings, steering angle and wheel speeds. These are combined to determine your position every 50 ms (20Hz). Departure from the track or cutting a corner is also detected.

With AMG TRACK PACE, you can your record lap times and log vehicle data on tracks that come preinstalled or have been configured by yourself. If required, a reference time can be defined. During recording, lap, sector and delta times are combined to produce a reference time. To do this, more than 80 different items of vehicle data are recorded every 100 ms (10 Hz). Green or red backgrounds allow you to see out of the corner of your eye – even when your concentration is at full stretch – whether you are above or below the target time.

Under the menu item “Timing”, nearby tracks will be displayed together with the distance from your current location. In the track display, you can also choose between 2D and 3D in different zoom levels. And of course, your race can be recorded on the app as a video – for even better evaluation of the saved vehicle data.

Absolute transparency with regard to longitudinal acceleration and deceleration

Drag Race Modus.

Fuel consumption combined: 10.8 l/100 km | CO2 emissions combined: 245 g/km | Emission Statement [1]

The target is always in sight. In Drag Race mode, you either choose between acceleration to a certain speed (0 - 50, 100, 150, 200, 250, 300 km/h) or over a certain distance (60ft, 330ft, 1/8 mile, 1,000ft, ¼ mile, ½ mile, 1 mile). Alternatively, you can choose the exact opposite: absolute deceleration (300, 250, 200, 150, 100, 50 - 0 km/h).

There is always a period of several seconds when full concentration is required. Tunnel vision, accelerator, brake – go! So it’s good to know that you have a companion who doesn’t miss a thing.

Measurement with AMG TRACK PACE starts automatically when you drive off or, in deceleration mode, when you drop below a certain speed. After each drag race, you get a summary of the measured values – time, speed, distance. Acceleration is also displayed in the form of a curve graph. In addition, the data is saved to your drag race history, which gives you the opportunity to make comparisons.

The alternation between acceleration and deceleration is the very essence of every race situation. AMG TRACK PACE logs the deceleration values so that you can counterbalance acceleration performance with the appropriate deceleration.

You now have in black and white the reason why your opponents see red.

Data analysis of your drive.

track-pace_features-data-slider_hd.jpg

Fuel consumption combined: 12.4 l/100 km | CO2 emissions combined: 284 g/km | Emission Statement [1]

With AMG TRACK PACE, you can record a wealth of vehicle data such as speed, longitudinal and lateral acceleration, steering angles and deceleration as well as lap and sector times on the racetrack. On the basis of this data, you can analyze your driving style in detail and use the knowledge gained to improve your lap times and driving skills.

Analyses as good as those in professional motorsport: For each completed race, a timesheet will be generated showing your lap times. And of course, the individual sector times and even a theoretical best time are shown. In the search for the ideal racing line, you can choose any two laps and perform a direct comparison. For this purpose, both racing lines are displayed in a direct visual comparison on the track graphics.

A graph is also generated displaying the following values for detailed analysis:

  • Speed
  • Latitudinal/longitudinal acceleration
  • Accelerator/brake pedal and steering angle
  • Engine speed and gears
  • Engine power and torque
  • Engine and gearbox oil temperature
  • Tire temperatures
  • Tire pressures

For the purpose of archiving and optimizing comparisons, the selected driver profile, the vehicle and the prevailing weather conditions are saved for each race.

Who says that racing circuits aren’t allowed to have corners or curbs?

Configuring user-defined and established tracks.

Fuel consumption combined: 10.8 l/100 km | CO2 emissions combined: 245 g/km | Emission Statement [1]

Your favorite tracks should always be a challenge – but not just for yourself. With AMG TRACK PACE, you can configure your own circuits and stretches of open road and store them for later lap times and vehicle data recordings.

In track recording, you can also define sectors for split times as desired – an attractive option especially for sections of track that you find appealing and/or demanding. As soon as you reach the starting point of a known circuit, AMG TRACK PACE automatically detects it and lap time mode is activated. Manual termination also allows you to define stretches of open road. Tracks and completed races can then be managed by yourself and exported via USB or imported to the head unit.

In the head unit under the menu item “Timing”, nearby tracks will be displayed together with the distance from your current location. Established circuits are already preinstalled for you. In the track display, you can also choose between 2D and 3D in different zoom levels.

First before everyone’s eyes, then on everyone’s lips.

This is how the monitor becomes your own pit wall: the AMG TRACK PACE app records a video of your performance in a resolution of up to 4k. At the same time, more than 80 vehicle signals are recorded and transmitted from the vehicle to the app at a rate of up to 100 times a second. This specially designed interface allows you to obtain a highly accurate visual analysis of your drive, thanks to the high volume of data.

Keep your records for posterity – the only limit is your storage capacity.

If required, the app can independently compile a one-minute video of the highlights from your drive. This involves stringing together 10-second excerpts of the most exciting moments from a recording that can be several minutes long. The resulting video is perfect for sharing your own drive on social media channels with friends or indeed the whole world. We take a sporting view: credit where credit is due.
