THE GULLWING FOR THE RACETRACK.
The look of a winner: the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 is a model athlete through and through, with its superior levels of performance, exceptional stability, outstanding safety and – last but not least – spectacular look.
COMPETITIVE STRAIGHT FROM THE FACTORY
The SLS AMG GT3 sailed through its first speed test before it had even finished being developed: it took less than two years for the idea to be turned into a finished race car, designed for sprint and endurance racing under FIA GT3 rules. This is an indication of the level of determination and boundless passion of everyone involved.
Despite its record-breaking development, the SLS AMG GT3 was also put through an extremely intensive test and trial phase. Thanks to this meticulous groundwork, the AMG customer teams can rely on the race car to be competitive right from the first kilometer. Five-time DTM champion Bernd Schneider was responsible for coordinating the basic set-up, alongside Thomas Jäger.
And the development continues: having completed a total of over 350,000 race kilometers and entered over 60 vehicles in races, the SLS AMG GT3 has been subject to extremely in-depth testing. Ongoing discussions with the AMG customer teams help us continue to develop the racing gullwing and ensure that it remains competitive in the future.
TECHNOLOGY FOR PERFORMANCE
The combination of optimum weight distribution, a low center of gravity, powerful drive, efficient aerodynamics and an exemplary safety system means that the SLS AMG GT3 is a race car par excellence. It combines a pioneering technology package with an aluminum spaceframe, AMG 6.3-litre V8 front mid-engine, six-speed racing transmission with a sequential gearbox and many more innovative features.
